The Hardest Part

The Hardest Part

A Poem by Solidad

Saying goodbye is hands down the hardest part of life.
It isn't the moving on or the ability to adjust.
It's learning how to keep moving when there isn't a willing breath left in your lungs.
When it seems like nothing is falling into place but rather falling apart.
Doing all you can to hold together all of the fraid ends that at one point held you together so flawlessly.
"Its ok," you tell yourself, "It only hurts when I breathe."
As we spend all our lives trying to hide and cover up battle scars we wish we'd never earned.
A lifetime of experiance we hoped would make us all the wiser.
Always stumbling over the same mistakes and becoming enraged by our own ignorance.
"But I guess this is the price that we pay for the privilage of living even for a day..."(-Ani DiFranco)

This was a really thought-provoking write. At first, I thought that it was rather typical in terms of the whole 'saying goodbye' idea, but as the poem progressed and the level of emotional depth deepened, I actually found myself venturing into totally uncharted territory, particularly with the line "It only hurts when I breathe". Although there were a few spelling mistakes, overall, I thought that you did a brilliant job in capturing the essence of human nature and relationships. Nice work,
