Jigsaw

Jigsaw

A Poem by Solidad
"

For those moments when you pulled me from the edge and kept me from jumping.

"

The gold leaf
is chipping off

and there's no
luster left

in this situation.
And everyone's

eyes widen
because they didn't know

I was so bad off;

that I was driving

blindly

through thorn bushes.

And I'm sorry
I waited;

so long
too long
just long enough

to lose
my grasp

on all things
tangible.

I should've asked
for help

before my fingers
slipped

and I lost
my footing.

There is no
apologies I can send now

from purgatory
nor the bottom of my crooked heart.

All I can do
now is take my love for you

fold it
and give it back

because I owe you
at least that much.

And we touch
fingertips

and we kiss
like 'goodbye'

because you're
never sure

if I'll make it
when I leave your h[e]art.

Or if that urge
will spark a revolution

inside me;

causing suicide

to synapse

through my blood.

And I sorry.

I can't help
myself

and you worry
and we fight

and I hold

to your shirt

a fist full
of sanity...

As you kiss
hot tears from my face.

And I apologize
for being broken

and used
up.

And you want
to be my late night

Savior...

And this is us
this is our love.

A jigsaw
of mistakes
and broken pieces.
