Broken Toys

Broken Toys

A Poem by Solidad
"

If only traded...

"

We stood around

telling stories.

Like an exchange.

Perhaps one broken part

could fix another

if only traded.

I'll give my soul

for your broken heart.

Its fraid at the edges

but we'll just tuck it in.

No one will notice

the difference.

He'll barter his memories

for a lung.

If only for a partial breath.

Then holding hands we pretended

the parts worked proper in their new homes.

Smiling,

though cogs will catch and we'll wince

at the glitches.

If only for a partial breath.

So heart wrenching- Wouldn't it be so much easier if we could fix our broken parts? Beautiful poem!
