3 Wishes To The Moon

3 Wishes To The Moon

A Poem by Jolene
"

sometime the darkness overwhelms you and you allow yourself to listen to that voice the demon that disguises itself as your way out.

"
This World it calls "Hey you",
Make 3 wishes to the moon...sell me your soul..to have it all..no pain ,no fails, no fear..
The price???? ...This world you'll have to leave.
This World that you hear..that whisper in your in your head,
It's the weakness inside you..it's keeping it fed.
Seeds of your thoughts created its core,
And now your soul this world wants to control.
This World it lies to you though,
It's truths the moon obscures,
It swears there life is better,no pain ,no trials , no fear,
All it takes is a broken soul and 3 wishes to the moon.
Don't you listen to that voice it's just the sad part of you, wanting and wishing and hoping that this world speaks the truth.
Know that the moon can't always obscure, your view of our world forever
The sun will rise , the light will shine and the moons lies you will see through.
You'll tell This World you're stronger and its lies you don't believe.
Tell This World you own your soul and you'll see you're needed here.
But i know even those these truths you'll know ,sometimes when you're alone inside you're head you hear This World
It calls out softly to you..."Hey you"...just make 3 wishes to the moon.

Interesting use of imagery in this one. The moon seems to symbolize that part of the mind that is seduced by "the world," or that consciousness of separateness and illusion that in the end never lives up to that which it advertises. The poet warns us about the world and its false promises. There is a reason why we are adjured to be in the world but not of it.
