When the Night Drowns in DawnA Poem by Kitty
When the Night
Turns to day,
We feel our powers
Slip away.
We, the dark ones
Spend our nights
Wrapped around our victims
Shrilling with delight.
Nothing can stop us
And no one dares try,
Because once you face us,
You’d wish you could die.
Our eyes penetrate
Deep into your mind,
But fear is the only emotion
We’re likely to find.
But as the sun’s rays
Begin to slice through the night,
We recoil into the darkness -
We hate the light.
Flee into the darkness
That’s what we do,
To tear our hearts out –
Damn, the day starts anew.
But here we’ll lie
Until dusk settles in,
Then we’ll start where we left off -
The darkness deep within…
