Our Suicide

Standing at the altar

I know who the sacrifice will be.

Yes, my love your blood will spill,

And next will be me.

 

But first we’ll light the candles,

To create an eerie glow.

The lighting will be perfect

Turned down so low.

 

Then I’ll fill our glasses with wine,

Your favourite flavour.

And each drop we drink,

We intend to savour.

 

The skies turn black,

The clouds shed blood.

Down on our altar

The rain begins to flood.

 

Drenched to the skin

We know the time is now.

And so we kneel before the altar,

Our heads lowered in a bow.

 

We say a silent prayer to the gods

Praying our soul to keep,

As we drift off slowly

Into our endless sleep.

 

Raising our heads one last time

To look up at the sky,

We relish in the thought

That this is our time to die.

 

The blade glides effortlessly

Right through our skin.

Blood spills over our arms,

It must be a mortal sin.

 

And with the poison pulsing through our veins

We know the time is near.

So cuddle up here on the altar beside me,

Come die with me, my dear.

Wow, this was a powerful piece.

It's hard to understand how even finding true love could not be enough to want to keep on living. I can understand wanting to to end it, but even after finding true love? hmmm.
