Behind Blue Eyes

 

I watch you when you talk,

Hang on every word you say.

I watch as you smile,

And find myself missing your lips.

I watch as your blue eyes twinkle,

Finding myself lost deep in your gaze.

 

I often wonder if you mean

What you say;

If you mean the words

That make my heart skip a beat.

I often wonder if your smile

Is meant for me;

Wonder if it’s one of affection

Or a mocking one.

I often wonder why

Your blue eyes twinkle;

Wonder what goes on

Behind those blue eyes.

 

I find myself believing your words;

Loving your smile

And drowning in your eyes.

I find myself accepting

The love I think I deserve,

Arguing that this is good enough for me.

Now I find myself dying,

Being scorched by your eyes;

Drowning in the deep blue.

 

And still I wonder

What goes on behind your blue eyes…

Again, a nice piece of work...

i like this poem. it really spoke to me. how many times have we wondered what was going on behind someone else's mind. the lines "Wonder if it's one of affection Or a mocking one." spoke to me as i find myself wondering that often. flow is smooth. lovely poem.
