The Rhythm of My Running FeetA Poem by KittyPitter-patter Pitter-patter My steps resound As I run through the puddles. The rain is drenching my clothes, Soaking my sneakers, But I don’t care. I had to get away; I had to run; I had to disappear. Your words continuous play In my head like a record-player That got stuck on the same sad track: “Take accountability. They were your choices. Stop expecting people to take responsibility for your life.” That was never my intention! I would never expect that of people How could you even accuse me of that? And now, running in the pouring rain, I try to block out your voice; Try to replace it with another sound, The sound of the rain; The rhythm of my running feet. Copyright©JosieWentzel31January2008
