Black Wedding

Black Wedding

A Poem by Kitty

The night was stormy,

The sky, it was black.

The silence was deafening,

And there was no turning back.

The beauty, of the forest,

Oh so dark.

I ran passed “our” tree,

Still evident is our mark.

Sunrise was to come,

An event we still dread.

Hopefully by dawn,

We’d both be happily dead.

I walked in the mausoleum,

My mascara running down my cheek.

My legs didn’t want to carry me –

I felt so weak.

But once I looked up

To see your face,

All I wanted

Was to feel your embrace.

I was handed a bouquet

Of wilting black roses dipped in blood.

They were the only type of flowers

That I have ever loved.

Our guests of living dead,

Stood as I walked down the aisle.

Their bones poked out of their skin,

A sight so vile.

There were vampires and werewolves,

Ghosts and zombies.

All were unliving,

All were deceased.

I took my place beside you,

You lifted my black veil.

This was my dream wedding,

Every single detail.

We took each others hands,

Standing in front of the priest.

In a couple of seconds or so,

Our passion would be unleashed.

Turning to each other

We started our vows.

We spoke of our feelings,

And the emotions it aroused.

We didn’t do the traditional,

We wrote our own vows instead.

They were words from our hearts,

This is what we said:

“I love your skin,

Oh so white.

And I love your touch

Cold as ice.”

“I worship your lips

Once red as wine.

I love the way you’re eyes

No longer shine.”

“I love every single tear

You cry.

I love that for me,

You would die.”

“We’ve been slaves to this love

From the moment we touched.

It was your hand from the start,

That I have clutched.”

“I taste death

In every kiss we share.

And this night

Is the last we have to bare.”

“Without you

Is how I disappear.

I love you so truly,

So passionately, my dear.”

“Is it so hard to believe our hearts

Are made to be broken by love?

It’s a sensation we enjoy

And we never get enough.”

“Your breath on my skin

Has the scent of the end.

The only way you can love me

Is to hurt me again and again.”

“Your love

Is a razorblade kiss.

Sweet is the taste

Of your lips.”

With our vows said and done,

In glee I hissed.

My vows were written in blood,

Cut into my wrist.

This was the suicide of love

And to it we drank.

Our goblets, filled with blood,

Against one another, in a toast, they clanked.

“A toast to the end of our lives together,”

You said as, in our drink, we immersed.

I sipped it up quickly

With a vampire’s thirst.

We shared a kiss -

One so divine.

“A drop of your blood,

Tastes like wine.”

This was our night

Filled with deadly lust.

Our love was glowing,

We were running out of trust.

Outside in the forest of suicide,

The skies began to rain.

We smiled as the tears of gods fell,

Laughing at their pain.

The wind howled viciously

In the dead of the night,

As if, our vows,

It was trying to recite.

“I’ll love you until our deaths

Do us part.

And I will always

Hold onto your heart.”

“This world is not for us

And you know it as well as I do.

In life or death, Baby,

I will always love you.”

 “Myself, for your love,

I am killing,

This is a passionate sin,

The way I’m feeling.”

“You’re my haven –

I breathe my last breath.

Baby,

Please join me in death.”

The undertaker priest called on the ring bearers

To come forward.

The were carrying our bloody hearts

Wrapped up in thorns.

“Wont you let it rain?”

The priest shouted to the sky.

“Join these two in unholy union,

As the gods they defy.”

A lightening strike cracked

As if the gods were loathing.

It streaked across the sky,

The thunder moaning.

The ceremony was

Sealed with a kiss of death.

And as we walked away

The Reaper played our song of death.

“Together we’ll live in death,”

You said as we entered the crypt.

It was the end of our black wedding,

The end of our script.

As we climbed into the coffin together,

And you closed the lid,

Our lives flashed before me,

I thought of all we did.

And I smiled at the thought

Of never growing old.

You leaned over and whispered,

“My love, you’re so cold.”

Its romantic and gothic. A dark and chilling piece that still keeps the air of love, a very hard thing to accomplish. I love the imagery as well. Thanks for sharing!

I read it and I was stunned! You expressed highly gothic attitude in your beautiful poem. The words you used are marching in their purity as other are staring beside in their weakness, waiting for you to take them and shape them.

This is one original poem, witch reminds me of Him's ,, Join me,, and My Chemical Romance's ,,Helena,,.

Love and death are both sublime, and they mix together in this poem perfectly.

The ending could not of been a better one.
