One Step Closer

I woke up this morning

And crawled out of bed.

I just had a feeling

That this was going to be

One long day.

 

“Breathe,” I commanded myself,

Sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

“This is just one step closer

To the end of the day.”

 

I got to work late

And my boss was in a bad mood.

Needless to say

I got the lecture

Of a lifetime.

 

“Breathe,” I commanded myself

Sitting with piles of work.

“This is just one step closer

To the end of the day.”

 

Finally it was time

To shut off my computer

And get ready

For the long, traffic-congested

Drive home

 

“Smile,” my co-worker said.

“This is just one step closer

To the end of the day”
