My New Life

My New Life

A Poem by Kitty

"Welcome to New York," the pilot announced.
"We hope you enjoy your stay."
I got up out of my chair,
I couldn't believe this was the day!

We had been flying for 18 hours -
One hell of a flight,
And it was all worth it
Although I felt rather like an abderite.

I wasn't sure what day it was
Or even the time.
All I knew was that I was here -
I was going to make my first dime.

As I walked off the airplane,
I saw my first sighting of snow.
The feeling was indescribable
And I knew I never wanted to go.

I had found myself
A place to call my home.
I was doing it alone -
As always on my own.

But that didn't matter -
I had come to start a new life.
I could finally forget about my old country
And all its pain and strife.

New York” I screamed at the top of my lungs
As I walked out of the airport doors.
I knew I had found a new life
Of happiness forever more.

Finding peace has always been a struggle for me. But if there is one thing I can wish for the world, it's peace, love, more tolerence, faith, hope and trust. I hope you find it somewhere out there.... more..
