The Veil of Violence

The Veil of Violence

A Poem by Joshua

Hold it back,
all that you believe,
and soon the truth reveals
what has been concealed amongst you
in the eyes of the unreal.
For what could ever represent violence
more than what lies buried,
beneath the clothes you wear?
It must be the pain and blood,
that attracts you more
than the pleasure and happiness,
that brings love to the door.
For what other reason
could one possibly vindicate,
a life less loved and
a consent towards hate.
Though you see the bloodshed
not a tear is felt,
instead a fear
grows within,
something deep,
that you dread.
Fully aware it is to see,
anger arise
at a glimpse of nudity,
I try to understand because
I thought love is beauty
and anger twas hate.
Oh how I was duped again,
for the two are one,
polar opposites
of the same coin.
Therefore it is the coin
that I must examine
to learn from my desires,
the fugacity of its existence
pretending to be permanently
residing in my kingdom of hearts.
