SELDOM SAVANNA STUDENTSA Poem by Josh WeseyA poem. His eyes are filled to the brim, And gently they burst forth waters of overflowing emotion, His skin so scarred, Heaven knows the beasts he has wrestled to survive. A damp rag is wrangled round his waist as clothing, A gourd is slung down his shoulder, No Knowledge Whatsoever, Except for one word that guards his path “Survive “------------------------------------------------- His brethren’s corpses lay cold battered & bruised nearby, Another corpse? A jaguar lay with a wooden stake to its belly, The Word rings again “Survive” He rises and struts away.
