OCEANS

OCEANS

A Story by Josh Wesey

Sometimes I wonder. If the cave men of millions of years ago were frightened when they heard the true voice of their mind. I wonder if they searched around for the owner of this voice. I shiver at the scene my mind sends forth, they murdered themselves in fright. Maybe even running as fast as they could from this voice.

A curious puny cave boy sits at the top of an ice mountain & in this silence begins a discussion with the voice. He realizes what his simple brain discovers.

This is his own voice echoing in his oblong head.

Problem Solved.

I wonder still what the cavemen will have done when they first saw the liquid referred as water. After finding out it could quench their everlasting mortal thirst. In their happiness & joy they probably jumped in. Drowned in its depth of darkness. Survivors feared this liquid & allowed their flexible mentalities to develop such ridicule for thoughts like “Water Spirits & the water gods”.

Typical early African mentality isn’t it?

But Generally.

Did they worship these silent substances? Sacrifice to it? Did they allow their minds to create more thoughts and rules that they must follow thinking the oceans spoke to them? Did they believe all occupants of the oceans were its children? Automatic Respect must have been formed.

I shouldn’t let my mind paint me such vivid pictures of impossibilities.

The oceans are beautiful snares.

I’m through.
