Covenant

Covenant

A Poem by JoshuaStribbell

Come before me, my emptiness
Stand beside me at the edge of your own void
Together shall we discover your worth

A black hole you are!
Destroyer of life
I recognize your heart of darkness by the absence of light

Eternity is your mistress
And it is the vanity of your affair
That calls itself eternal

Infinity, is that what you see in your reflection?
A chasing after the wind,
So you interpret all finite manifestations
A chasing after the wind,
So you interpret my actions
But behold! I am the wind

Bite thine tongue therefore my emptiness
Lest the wind blow you off the edge
Into the depths of your own void

Instead I urge you, be silent
And accompany me on my journey
Together we shall find enough temples for you to devour
Enough to sequester your incredible appetite

Art thou hungry?
Let us hunt meat
Art thou thirsty?
Let us drink wine

This is my promise to you
My emptiness,
That you shall be filled
