Last NightA Chapter by JoshiDxUnder the flickering exit sign Beside the creaking downstairs door Thin fingers brush blue streaks of hair past green eyes Smoky seems like a stereotype But wisps hover in the air Beneath the dim fluorescent lights The shredded semblance of jeans Bare legs that stretch towards the door Hips shifting in thoughtful deliberation Across the hazy vapor screams silence Eyes that have to look away Are caught up in the reflection Rusted metal bar clanging Battered canvas shoes scraping Icy blusters rush through the gaping hole In reverse images the scene plays Now a silhouette disappearing As the door creeps closed The reflection dissipates in music Or in murky lukewarm liquids Spirits never seemed so cold Clinking calms the restless mind Straining frames the tired soul One more sip and the memory fades© 2015 JoshiDx |
