Chapter 2A Chapter by JoshPayne77CHAPTER TWO Today started off awful. Then again, most of my days do, but today was extra special. I woke up thirty minutes too late, because my dad kept me up till 2 p.m typing up a report he was supposed to do. Story of my life, my dad screws up, I pay for it. When I finally dragged myself into the tub, I ended up slipping on the soap and falling on my butt. So for two whole minutes, I couldn't walk properly. Then I went to the kitchen to make breakfast, and I burnt my hand on the frying pan, and got ketchup on my shirt, so that was five whole minutes of zero progress. Finally, I somehow made it to school, and I immediately got detention at the gate for coming in late. Wonderful. All in all, it was a bad morning. Now, you're probably wondering where my parents were when all this was going down. Well, my mom was asleep. She firmly believes humans were not meant to wake up before ten o'clock, and my dad had a presentation(which I typed for him), so he had to get to work early. Usually, he's a pain in the neck from the moment I wake up. So, basically, I got to class, and the teacher wasn't in. I thought my luck had turned, then he walks in and says this: "I hope your essays are ready, the deadline's tomorrow." Yeah. Totally forgot about that. So now I had probably a fractured coccyx, first degree burns on my hand, detention, and about 24 hours to finish a 500 word essay. On top of all that, today's Monday. The universe has this particular celebration it holds every month called the "Make Kendall Johnson's life more miserable than it is" Day. It seems that day came early this month. I never, ever say: "Things can't get any worse!" Because they can. If you're not dead, they can. And things did take a turn. For better? For worse? I don't even know anymore, I'll let you judge. So in the middle of my panic attack after hearing about the essay business, the principal strolled in, with some new kids. New kids! Fun! Excitement! What a day! What a day! Well, as far as new kids go, they were very stereotypical. Brother and sister, from some small town, parents moved here on business, and blah blah boring backstory I don't care about blah. Seemed excited, yet timid. New backpacks, relatively well dressed, but I never judge a person on their clothing, especially on the first day. People are liars. They seemed nice though, and the guy, Ryan, took a real shine to me for some reason. The teacher made us share a desk, and then he immediately repeated the same damn backstory the teacher told us moments ago. I would have ignored him, people like me take what we can get when it comes to human interactions. It was exhausting, but worth it,cause his sister was hot. I know, that's the kind of shallow talk you'd expect from a "popular" guy, but hormones and all that. I'm a teenager too, don't let the bleak outlook on life fool you. It got pretty annoying though, as he kept tailing me through recess, and then the rest of my classes. He was trying waaay too hard, and I liked that, for some reason. During Algebra, He kept at it, and was telling me about his dog Spike for the fifth time (yes I counted) that day, when I decided to break the monotony and ask him a question. Pretty simple stuff to save my sanity. "Where do you live now?" I was expecting a random answer I would promptly forget, but then he said it. The horror. "We just moved into Redbrick Avenue this morning!" Damn. Another future zombie. "Where do you live?" Uh oh. "Uhh...I.." Kendall! Never have I been so glad to get caught talking in class. But on the other hand, I just got caught talking in class. Extra detention, whopee. As far as bad days go, today was pretty brutal. But as I ran home when I got out of detention at six (so I was probably kidding about the coccyx, but hey, it was six. There's serial killers about.) I kept thinking about Ryan. No telling what all this holds for me in the future, but we'll see won't we? Now to work, essay ho. Good times. Good times.
