Old Glory

Old Glory

A Poem by Josh Anderson

It's seen the fires of war
And the serenity of peace
It's never flown higher
Then across these seven seas
It may be a tattered old flag
But I grow prouder of it each day

It was there when we the people cried liberty
And there when we were divided
It flew when we stood in victory
After all nations collided
It has scars all its own
But I'm proud to call it the symbol of hope

I've seen it get trampled
And torn by it's people
Who cry justice for criminals
And in their names do so much evil
Yes it's seen better days
But I'll never be ashamed of where Old Glory hangs
