Shattered Glass

Shattered Glass

A Poem by Josh Anderson

You tell me a liar is all I am
But does it really look like I give a damn
Because damned is all I'll ever be
If I let what you say ever start affecting me

You tell me it's all my fault
Let me be the first to prove you wrong
The scars on my wrist were left for you
All the tears and the agony too

Honesty is the greatest policy
Unless the person looking back at you is a monstrosity
Someone you never want to see again
But you go back anyway, you're so addicted to the pain

A shattered mirror shows you so many different faces
In this deck of cards you can only pull so many aces

The rest come up with a jesters mark

Laughing while you pull together the pieces of your shattered heart
