Before the Levy Breaks

Before the Levy Breaks

A Poem by Josh Anderson

I've been to hell and back
Seen angels cry
Though my wings did flap
I could not fly
For all my struggle
Was it in vain
A life a trouble
For a little gain

I've crossed oceans
Just to escape this hell
Denied emotions
But couldn't deny myself
It's just a matter of time
Before the levy breaks
I've got nowhere to hide
From this flood of love and hate

Where are the scriptures
That are sworn to save
Where's the rapture
To carry me away
But my wings won't open
They won't take the wind
Are they broken
By the weight of sin
