Painted Face

Painted Face

A Poem by Josh Anderson

The painted face hides the tear stains
I'm too ashamed to show
Maybe if I laugh a little more today
Then no one will ever know

It's not that I don't want to feel alright
I just don't know the way
I fought a losing fight
And I don't know what to say

I'm falling apart
And I must keep smiling
But with a broken heart
It's the same as lying

The painted face has a smile
I have made my own
It hasn't been real for awhile
But maybe it will soon
