Narrow Streets and Broken Hearts

Narrow Streets and Broken Hearts

A Poem by Josh Anderson
"

Winding roads often lead back to where you started

"

I bowed my head in defeat
I chose the narrowest street
Broke before I could stand
Does that make me any less of a man
Judge me any way that you wish
All I know is that I'm finished with this

Broken hearts can only beat for a short time
Before the cracks reach the tears in my eyes
I tried to carry the weight
God knows I tried not break
But I'm only made up of sand
A structure with no legs to stand

This jester can't laugh at his pain
Tears are all that remain
I could tell you that I'm fine
But you never believed me when I lied
Best not to waste anyones time
With this cracked heart of mine

It's not pity I seek
At least not for me
God knows that I'm tired and scarred
But I've already gone this far
My cross hasn't lightened in weight
God help me find strength

This has a lot of emotion within it, I liked how you used the rhyming. Sometimes pain is hard to deal with and at times we may feel similar to how this poem is, but do not give up. I like the ending, asking God for strength, because only through Him can we have the strength to carry on in this life, and only through Him can our pain be lifted from our shoulders.
