That Goes Double for Me

That Goes Double for Me

A Poem by Josh Anderson
"

When everything seems to happen to you, only double

"
Seeking sanctuary, but there's no steeple to hide me
Every step that I take there's a door closing behind me
There's no rest for the wicked, not wink of sleep
There's no rest for the wicked, and that goes double for me

Every corner I turn is another step I take blindly
Every hand that I shake is another person killing me kindly
There's no trust for the dishonest, I've lied more than enough
There's no trust for the dishonest, and that goes double for love

I seek out forgiveness, but I can't seem to find words
Every prayer that I utter gets lost, goes unheard
There's no redemption in hell, and I guess that's where I'll be
There's no redemption in hell and that goes double for me

I see a light shining, is it too good to be true
The fire falls flat, God followed through
There's power in faith, there's strength in the unseen
There's power in faith, and that goes double for me
