Where’s the girl?A Poem by Joe PalmerWhere’s the girl? Where is the girl who I love so dearly? The one with whom I’ve danced, sang, laughed and cried, Who would hold my hand and be by my side. Surely she’s there, She’s still there clearly. Where is the girl who would bring me Chinese? The girl who I fell for, changed for and would die for, Who has slept on my bed, together, cuddled on the floor, She’s still there, maybe just down on her knees. For what she cannot see is how love changes, Like a pack of cards it shuffles, rearranges. It does not grow stale. Suffer, weaken, or eventually fail. It merely changes. It goes through stages. And my darling, it seems you’re looking for an excuse to jump overboard, But this ships not sinking, it’s just changing course, So like Rose from Titanic, please step down from the rails. Come back to bed, and if all else fails, We can go back to sleep. © 2011 Joe PalmerFeatured Review
