Lucid

Lucid

A Poem by Joe Palmer

Maybe one day, we'll live in peace with the creatures

In a heaven so secluded that no-one can reach us.

Here; cover our tracks, lose time and relax

Caressing with contentment,

We'll stay for an eternity perhaps...

At peace with the creatures.

Maybe one day, we'll build a home in the clouds

Where no-one can pry or moan that our music's too loud.

Sleep in the waves, in this lucidity, just dreaming for days.

Here; hopelessly happy

Not caring what anyone says

In our home in the clouds.

Maybe one day, we'll awake from this dream

To a life purely of love, animals and strawberry ice cream.

Awake and alive, doused in pleasure but never contrived

I don't know where this place is,

But we'll know when we arrive

When we awake from this dream.

Maybe one day, we'll start an adventure

That leads us everywhere and takes us forever.

Nomadic pioneers, thrill-seekers to the end of our years

Young, bullish and brazen

Yet along the way we still conquer our fears.

When we start our adventure.

Maybe one day, we'll reach the edge of the cliffs

Let's leap forth, plunge peacefully into the unknown abyss.

Flying not falling, pastures new to find our true calling

Weightless beyond wonder,

Just effortlessly soaring.

Through the unknown abyss.

Maybe one day, we'll start an adventure
That leads us everywhere and takes us forever.
Nomadic pioneers, thrill-seekers to the end of our years
Young, bullish and brazen
Yet along the way we still conquer our fears.
When we start our adventure.

I think this was my favorite part - a wish perhaps from my own heart - a lovely poem that makes me ache for a better world. Well penned

Did you mean to "loose" time? Or "lose"? If you can't spell correctly in the first stanza, I "LOSE" interest.

I love this stanza:
"Maybe one day, we'll start an adventure

That leads us everywhere and takes us forever.

Nomadic pioneers, thrill-seekers to the end of our years

Young, bullish and brazen

Yet along the way we still conquer our fears.

When we start our adventure."

I like the thoughts and questions brought to life by the world. The question you asked. Need answers and concern. How much can Earth give? Nice flow of thoughts left the reader with many question needed to be answered ASAP. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
