Golden Arches

Golden Arches

A Poem by Joe Palmer

The golden arches

Tell-tale sign of the modern beast

The poisonously addictive starches

Lure us back, it’s time to feast.

Ronald McDonald the symbolic

Sign of corporate sprawl

A silent fiend more than iconic

The saturated charm infects us all.

This engulfing monster

That appeals to our senses

And all the charities they sponsor

Designed to deceive, build up pretenses.

An American giant

Leaching profits from every continent

But Let us be defiant

Every boycotted burger is money better spent.
