Messed Around

Messed Around

A Poem by Joseph

You tell me one thing and then it's something else

You say you had a great time and don't call me back

You say you can rent me your room and then you don't

I tell you I want something and you give it to someone else

How can I trust?

How can I believe?

Why make me a pawn on your chessboard?

Why make me a low number in your deck of cards?

Why make me a leaf in your forest?

Why make me a dustbin in your home?

I am smothered with lies and deceit

All I want is truth and honesty

Do I not deserve my good fortune?

Please tell me why.

I try to be a good person

I am not something to throw rubbish into

I only offer kindness and happiness

How can I be selfless to others when others are selfish to me?

Why mess me around?

I deserve better.
