Child-like

Child-like

A Poem by Josejo

I am older now yet
younger than the path
my footsteps
have set out to follow

I am older now yet
I will be younger once
and again when
the path sets out to taunt
 me with shrewdness
and sneers.

I am of a ripe and
proper age
and then lose all
my experience-
to the trees,
on the aforementioned
path

Luster and brilliance has
been my pillow
from childhood-
smiles, good heart,
charity-
all of these blunted
and made less than child-like
now that I have acquired
a tougher skin

I am older now-
I feel it now,
(the aging)
but the stars and trees
and certain animals
pledge to me
that that I am immature
in every way
