The Phases of Life

The Phases of Life

A Poem by Joseph
"

A poem I wrote about looking at the entirety of life in a different way than years or age.

"
We measure our lives in small little years,
With moments of joy and melancholy tears,
So much time have I wasted on miserable things,
Lost hope of all joy my future may bring.

Consumed by sadness and controlled by pain,
A man with no future to lose nor gain,
Let down by the world, but forced to persevere,
Alive I stayed year after year.

I looked to my elders those warriors of time,
Through the phases of life I began to climb,
The stories they told from battles before,
Were similar to mine more and more.

For many months my mind was pondering,
How we measure our life and I began wondering,
What if life is not a sequence of emotions and years,
But instead it is phases we all must endear.
