Starving Mannequins

Starving Mannequins

A Poem by Jose E. Reyes

Lost souls becoming mannequins
Pursuing the unrealistically slim curves
Pursuing the shines of pearly, smooth, plastic-like skin yet there heads sit vacant
But see that doesn't matter
No see the mannequin is beautiful
No it is sexy
Just impeccable
nicely dressed
thin and tall
No flaws
Displayed for thousands to admire
I need a woman like that
Why can't ya be like that?!?
20 million woman in the United States
Poke their throats and vomit
Or they starve themselves for me!
How sexy!!!
Why can't you? It can't be that hard
Right?
Anything to fit that slim red dress on that body
Anything to be admired by all
Anything to be
Beautiful
Sexy
Nicely dressed
And thin
Just like that mannequin

Hate me!
Spite me!!
No! no.. change me!!!
As I am the society in which you live in.
Change me!
As I am the culture in which you practice.
Change me!
As I am the brands in which you wear
Change me!
For your mother.
Change me!
for your sisters.
Change me!
For your friends.
Change me!
For all of us...
