Prologue: A Small History of the Confederation

Prologue: A Small History of the Confederation

A Chapter by JoséNEO

Across Human history there has been many nations, from the time humanity began its journey through terra up to the space battles of legends long gone and even questioned, social groups have been important this groups have gone on to create settlements and in succession to create nations. The Galactic Confederation of Planets was founded by a 29 year old Michael McGuiness when he alongside around 5,500,000 people navigated through unexplored parts of the galaxy on their attempt to resurrect the spirit of democracy. Not much has been recorded from their long journey apart from the losses of various spaceships and the fact that it took 50 years until they found a habitable planet with a fixed star in which to settle. Upon stepping foot in the planet it was named Millionein in the honour of the almost 3,500,000 losses their long journey took, having finally settled on a name and after making plans for constructing housing and the infrastructures necessary for making the planet a metropolis the founder of the Galactic Confederation of Planets passed away a meek 6 weeks after arriving following his death 4 of the people closest to him decided to take inciative and create a high council which would have the first election for chairman of the confederation alongside elections for a secretary of defence, ministry, etc.

This government which was in power for 7 years (as is stated in the nation’s constitution) was one which the people nicknamed the people “government of gold” for the extremely democratic ways in which the nation was ran as they allowed the citizens to play major parts within the government even going as far as to allowing them to become regents of new planets while a local government could be established on them.  When the 7 year ended a new man rose to power as chairman, a man named Maxwell Urvasi who the people nicknamed “Marvellous” due to his flashy outfits, beautiful speeches and just his incredible charisma which drew the people to him it was on the 5th year of his tenure when a narrow corridor was found near the end of the  Crux-Suctum arm which scientists speculated could reach the Norma arm as such an odyssey was in store for the confederation.

It only took 6 months for the small fleet of just 1,800 ships to make it through the corridor without losing any of their ships and reach an uninhabited planet with an atmosphere and fixed star, this planet was named Minerva in honour of an ancient goddess, the news of this discovery spread quickly which brought Maxwell to visit the planet in order to establish its local government but his ship was lost during its course through the corridor while the people who undertook on the voyage claimed had nothing to do with the disappearance all the people of the old land thought that the new territory was attempting a rebellion and that they would try to overthrow the government, this made the relationship between the two arms to begin rocky and it was also the start of the end for the Confederation’s democracy as the prime minister Alfred Napoleon rose to chairman and immediately abolished all local government instead opting to send an official regent from the government which irritated the people however it was not enough to bring them into a full scale rebellion specially with the fact that the entire military fleet of the government was just 25,000 strong and was all located in the capital.

While still a part of the Confederation the planet Minerva was mostly independent as it built their own military and began annexing all the planets on their arm to their allegiance, it as the Confederation did not grant the option of local regents however it is said that for the first 35 years of the planet’s discovery it was a centre for the poor and liberal minded people, one because the job opportunities were more on Minerva and the other because of the highly conservative minded people that had been winning seats in the government, the life of both sides was however mostly uninteresting as of course Minerva and all the other planets around her economic power all still were part of the Confederation, that was until the year 143 when Minerva and her surrounding planets asked to given formal independence, this request was immediately rejected by the high officials as they would have lost a grand percentage of voters by accepting.

For 10 more years Minerva and her planets would accept not having formal independence however on the 10th of June of the year 153 M.M when the congress approved the passing of a law that stated all planets outside of the capital’s range officially recognized as Outer Planets must pay a 1,000,0000,000 Dinerial Marks the problem with this was not the actual law being passed but the fact that no one represented the so called “Outer Planets” and as such they believed the spirit of democracy was lost as over 11 million people had gone unrepresented and now their planets would probably be put in a huge debt for a law they didn’t even get a saying on. As such on the 8th of August of the same year Minerva and her neighbouring planets officially announced that they would go against the Confederation on the name of Democracy and the founder’s honour, however they still kept calling themselves the Galactic Confederation of Planets and as such in just 153 years of existing the nation had begun the bloodiest civil war in history of humanity.

The war which has claimed the life of many had only lasted for 25 years which while on a one planet scale would seem large however at a galactic scale it has been extremely short not only that but in terms of actual battles there had only been 14 recorded fleet battles this mostly due to there only being one known corridor through which to fight with no chance of being entrapped on enemy territory as such few people had rose through the ranks of the military with only 3 men achieving the rank of Fleet Admiral and between those 3 lied most of the military power in the war, and while all 3 had been extremely competent men 2 of them, the abilities of Fleet Admiral Trung Yin from the original Confederation and Fleet Admiral Connor Konev from the New Confederation led by Minerva had reached the point in which their intellect had greatly deteriorated and as such it had been made clear that the Admiral distinguished himself greatly in the battles to follow not would get a promotion they probably would also gain the position of each of this two men that being the position of Supreme Commander of the Space Fleet. As such human history once more began accelerating at an unreal pace.
