Bottomless

Bottomless

A Poem by Joanne Jayne

Rain hammered down into the abyss

She came to life in that cold

The clarity came like a rush of adrenaline

A thickening of silence and moment of still

All sound and vision dulled but intense

Alert and heightened

An edge too sharp to grasp

She would pull up the blanket and close her eyes

Reach for the poison

The antidote for life

A hideous moment, well portrayed. You hit the emotion with no unnecessary detail.
