Feed the Machine

Feed the Machine

A Poem by Hell in a Hip Flask

‘Three poems, 6 articles

and one animated short’

‘He did that all in an afternoon?’

‘No he did that in half an hour’

‘How?’

‘He didn’t finish the movie,

got bored of the articles,

and managed a verse or two

of the poems’

‘And the short?’

‘That one was 2 minutes

and 23 seconds,

he managed that’

‘But does he remember it?’

‘Does he have to?

He knows he wanted to

consume it and he did!’

‘But without memory

of what he consumed

what’s the point?’

Do you not eat

for the taste?’

‘Of course but how

can my taste develop

if I don’t fully

understand why I’m

enjoying what I eat?’

‘Why understand what

you enjoy,

if it brings you the

same pleasure

either way?’

‘Will I always want

the same pleasure

if it always contents me?’

‘You talk too much,

just feed the machine’
