Wisconsin GirlA Poem by Hell in a Hip FlaskI'm so happy right now‘She’s got you writing a song, like a love song?’ ‘Well sort of but not like a proper love song’ ‘F**k maybe you do like her’ ‘I dunno man’ She’s in her forest, with her poems underground. While I’m here in my bed, and my poems form a mound. My semi conscious rants, are crumpled at my feet, while she wanders through the woods her head nodding to the beat, of baby racoon’s tiny paws running up the road, the breeze through the trees and the croak of the toad. All these things I never see, they never meant much to me. All I saw was harsh lines, the strictness of the beat, city streets and parking fines, so I made rap my retreat. Rappers with no emotion, from Biggie to Ghostface Killer, until this girl across the ocean, made me want to be there with her. I’m singing songs that I can’t sing, cos she got those eyes I’m lost in Oh oh oh" the girl from Wisconsin. She got me writing freely, less poems in the bin, Oh oh oh " the girl from Wisconsin. In this life we need two things, a common tongue and a common goal, gotta understand each other when we sing, and both know which way to go. And I say I hope one day, we’ll be travelling together, from Belgium to Bombay, running through any weather. Carnivale in Brazil, Trekking up Irish hills, Playing in Canadian snow, or the neon lights in Tokyo. We have nothing but our will, our bodies to touch and our hearts to fill. Run on! Run on! Past the dawn and horizon’s gate, grasping our lives, before it’s too late" Girl, you got me all shook up… I’m singing songs that I can’t sing, cos she got those eyes I’m lost in Oh oh oh" the girl from Wisconsin. She got me writing freely, less poems in the bin, Oh oh oh "
