Brass Buttons

Brass Buttons

A Poem by Jordyn Zacharias

Ash Rains down on my Thick Wool Coat
The Brass Buttons Tarnished
but neatly rowed
As I stand with other men
On the Bloody Hilltop

Ive Run through Woods
And over Plains
Hopped Fences
And Suffered Pain
On the orders of Generals

Never again shall i run
For Here my Buttons Lie
Tarnished but neatly rowed
As I lay with other men
On the Bloody Hilltop
