This poem is called "Piano In The Forest"
I was inspired to write this poem, after my friend Erik brought up the idea of how cool it'd be to actually be able to play a piano in the forest. I hope you enjoy.
The sound of the harmony lights up this place
Fills me with a feeling of warm embrace
Every key, every note, every scale in tune
Every thread of music, bouncing off the moon
This is my place, where I believe I belong
In a beautful meddow, playing something that keeps me strong
The peace is heavenly, the animals play, and the sun shines bright
The sound of the chirping birds teaching their young ones to take flight
This is the one place I go to escape it all
Keeps my peace at mind, and allows me to fall
Fall in an abyss of music and love
Has me guessing about that wonderful world that's hidden up above
The laughing children and roads of gold
A place where you'll always be happy, and never feel cold
I sit here playing something that I've grown attatched too
Something that I was born with, something I just knew
It doesnt hold secrets, and doesn't tell lies
It doesn't stab you in the back, it has no disguise
Music is a beautful thing that fills this world with desire
Anything from scruffy vocals, to the peaceful choirs
Music wraps us in velvet, and takes us on a ride
A ride which allows us to express ourselves, no longer needing to hide
It's an emotional roller coaster of love and hate
Something as powerful as deciding even the most horrifying fate
We never know where we'll land when music hits our souls
Will it crush us into pieces, or mend us into a whole?
You never understand the joy some people get or the anger some people feel
Or why glorified music, is also known to heal
We may never know the secrets this gift may behold
Or even a story this gift may be able to unfold
In the meantime, I'll sit here and not care about the bad or the good
The richest or the poorest
I'll be minding my own business, playing my beloved Piano In The Forest
I just had a dream where I was playing a piano in the middle of the forest (I've been trying to recreate the feel of that song here in the waking world most of the day. Perhaps I'll have better later tonight, I seem to do my best work when the there are sleeper's dreams coming from the world around me.) Coincidence? I have no idea, but it's uncanny either way.
There's a sense of timelessness with this poem, and of a connection between nature and music, which I believe to be very real. Nearly every line brings out aspects that are connected to it (for example, "Anything from scruffy vocals, to the peaceful choirs," makes me think of Tom Waits and, well, a peaceful choir I once heard, I can't recall the name.)
This poem is most definately entering my Library of Favorites!
There is such a wonderful musical cadence that follows throughout this work that truly fits its subject. The idea of playing a Piano in the Forest is such a romantic and joyful thought to me. This is a wonderful work of art. I am truly impressed with your imaginative and steady flow throughout.
These lines really struck me the most:
'It doesnt hold secrets, and doesn't tell lies
It doesn't stab you in the back, it has no disguise'
It is a timeless, everlasting, important, prophetic statement that covers a plethora of matters - not just in the musical sense but it Unconditionally linked to a myriad of circumstances. This line alone really strikes a cord in what is most significant in the world - what we should remember, behold, embrace and live with a True Heart. Well done, my dear friend, quite impressive and imaginative work. This is going in my favorites.
