The Buzz of DaysA Poem by Jonathan CuzBubbawiczA lover from the old world trying to live in the new world and drowned himself away in a concoction of alcohol and drugsIn Key West sunlight, laughter weaves, A tapestry of vibrant dreams that never leaves, Drunk on the nectar of careless schemes, Living in echoes of reckless hopes and shattered dreams. A creature of love, I danced on the edge, Gave my heart freely, walked each fragile ledge. With every warm smile, a piece I would share, Pouring affection like waves through the air. Yet beneath the facade of infinite delight, Lies a heart grown weary, seeking shelter from night. In a world of sweet lust, where shadows reside, The lover fades slowly, no warmth to confide. I mingle in crowds, each voice a ghost’s trace, And though they see light, none know of my grace. They raise a glass high, to a life full of fun, But in silence, I wonder "when will I be done? Where's the soul in the shuffle of muted praise? When did life’s symphonies drown in the haze? Much like a book unread, alone on a shelf, I mask my own longing, lost in myself. As seasons sweep past, and days blend to grey, I grasp for the moments that drift far away. With every sweet memory, the ache lingers near, A love that was vibrant now cloaked in fear. So here I will party, in rhythm and rhyme, Dance with the shadows, lose track of the time. But deep in my heart, where the longing accedes, Lies a whisper of hope, for true love still bleeds.
