Finding Home

Finding Home

A Story by Jonny The Savage
"

A quick thought on the pursuit of happiness and unity.

"

In life we all are in pursuit of something but are unable to identify it and thus assume that accomplishing certain goals will be that something. If only we lived in an ideal world…instead we live in a world defined by entropy. This unknown desire will gnaw through your very being and leave you miserable if left unfulfilled. It’s a bitter irony to be homesick for a home you’ve never seen or even known.

Home is the one place that we always want to return to regardless of how it’s defined. It is foolish to build a home based on desperation; it will rarely turn out favorably. There is wisdom to be gained from these ventures but the risk is completely unworthy of it; life can end as abruptly as it began. I know this sounds fairly cliché by this point, but I experienced it first hand through a screeching ford Taurus. As the glass shattered and the impact wracked my body, I accepted my death. Life is fast and unforgiving, so you must live accordingly.

Happiness, ultimately, is what we all strive for; and we’ll never be collectively happy if we continue to be petty and bigoted. We need to unify ourselves rather than separate. There’s no need for vast riches or empire; avarice must not lead us, only through compassion may we ever conquer the darkness to which we’ve been enshrouded. It’s sickening to see what greed has wrought upon this world, even just observing from my existence. It’s not too late to create the Utopia that has been dreamed out for all of human existence. It can never be observed as too late, that extinguishes hope and without hope, what are we left with?

Yes, we are all different and thus will clash from time to time but that isn’t a bad thing, it leads to personal growth. We need to look beyond race and creed and understand that, fundamentally, we’re all on the same journey; we’re just taking different paths. We all need to exist in this finite space of infinite opportunity. These chaotic dice rolls decide everything in the beginning and always will have a jabbing place in our lives. Entropy is the only thing that one may consider an absolute.

There are many questions in life but I find the largest to be: “What am I willing to risk to find home?” I may be observed as a bit reckless at times but I say “everything”. ‘Tis better to play your hand and lose than to wonder “What if…” Hindsight is much worse than any experience, for with experience comes wisdom but with hindsight comes insomnia.

We must not lose ourselves to superficiality, avarice or animosity; remain true to ourselves and others and never give up on the pursuit of home, until it has been found. Above all we must nurture the flame that dwells within us all. Every time we falter, it flickers; we must never let it be doused, for that is the death of hope and thus the self.

Author's Note

Jonny The Savage
This is the bare bones of a larger essay that I'd like to write. There is much that needs to be elaborated upon it's just the first writing I've done of any length recently.

Rex Thunderfoot,

Wow! Do I have a headache! No... Not from lack of understanding, from
you bashing me ever so gently over the head with your words.

"What am I willing to risk to find home?"

Indeed, what a statement. Maybe, just maybe, if we thought on this for a
moment -

Hmmmm... Why don't we try an exercise, let's just wake up and realize
Home. Ok might be a little too deep here

Pursuit~ Can we say, cat chasing its tail here? Maybe if we try to slow
down for a moment, what we seek may just catch up with us. No...
Society has raised pure breed, full blooded mustangs on the open range
with too many directions to comprehend.

Unity~ un-dividedness, unification, uniformity, union, unison...Yes, Yes,
YES! Ouch, hit the nail on the head here. If only they would teach this in
elementary, grade and high school, let's not leave out a pre-rec for college.
What a Utopia indeed this would be, instead we live in a dystopia.

Please excuse me here; I think I went off on a tangent of sorts. (Sorry)

Back to your write here - Your story is filled with much to think about. As a
College thesis this would surely stand the test of time.

Thank You for the opportunity to sit in on such a piece of work... Awesome.

Have a great Day

P.S. Would you consider entering this in Poetic Infusion Society's contest, Book 3 Enlightenment?

Legacy... Wowwww
