To My Deceased Grandpa

To My Deceased Grandpa

A Chapter by Not A Writer
"

Bill Galkin died 04/02/02. He was a loving grandpa, friend, and boss. I am most priviledged to spend time with him these past two years.

"

My old, old friend has gone in the sky.

I see the tracks that he left in the sand

And remember him.

Though the words that he spoke once touched the air,

I am sad to say that they are no longer there.

When I come to think what man was he,

I remember the times that we had cutting the green.

Much work, much talk, much still yet to be said.

“Got to work and make the customer happy,”

These words of his carved with love shall forever be my legacy.

I remember the talk that we had what seems yesterday.

Playing the role of father, but I just didn’t understand why;

He gave me the talk about life, women, and money:

The typical grandfather, who raved his politics to me.

They say that love is blind, and I got to say that is true,

Because I never got to say thank-you nearly as much as I wanted to.

I’m glad to say that God used him as my friend.

A care package at college was sent to me from him.

I wish I had the chance to say thank-you once again,

But, the only solution I can arrive to is God wanted him home,

And that is good enough for me.

Though grandpa has ceased, it is still not the end,

He lives in heav’n and his legacy still lives through me.
