Love's Downhill

Love's Downhill

A Chapter by Not A Writer
"

A girl comes to greet her love but everything goes downhill.

"

The mockingbird's song could be sung

Across the plains to my lover.

'I skipped and I danced under the sun

For we would be as one.

As I was frolicking

I slipped and I fell

And to make matters worse

Rain was falling down on me!

There I saw he stood still

And now he is departing!

I rose onward to my feet

To chase my love evermore.

Calling out to my lover,

"Come back! Come back!"

But the rain block my voice.

I ran with all my might

But he only seemed farther

Till I fell into the ditch

And

Could not ever get out.

wow! this is really good. when the girl falls, does that represent something wrong that she's done? did she cheat on him? and when she tries to go after him again, trying to catch up with him who was walking away, leaving her for what she'd done, does the rain from above and the ditch down below represent her locked up in her sins forevermore, never being able to forget the magnitude of her crimes? yea, i'm taking a random guess on the meaning, so please do let me know if i'm completely off and just babbling. oh, nice imagery and i did like the choice of words. overall, really good job :D i do have a question on one thing though:
' 'I skipped and I danced under the sun '
I can't understand the significance of that apostrophe
