Captivated; Now set Free

This song came quickly to me. I have been singing lately that I am so lost without the cross. Without the cross and God's Word I am crushed by sin.

It’s like I am so lost

I’m drifting away from the cross!

Whatever wilt I do

When I’m blind without You?

I say I am free

When surely sin has captivated me.

But than I look at Your Word

And see the law that I had spurned.

 

Sin has captivated me

But the cross has set me free!

If I only look to You

There’s nothing You can’t do!

Just open my eyes

That I may see,

Just open my mouth

That I may glorify thee!

 

Am I drifting away from grace

What has caught my attention!

Dark rags do I treasure

And grace is not what I measure.

I say I’m a believer

Yet I stab my precious Savior!

But He has awakened me

And luckily, wrath I do not see!

 

Sin has captivated me

But the cross has set me free!

If I only look to You

There’s nothing You can’t do!

Just open my eyes

That I may see,

Just open my mouth

That I may glorify Thee!

 

Let me walk in Your grace

So Your face I don’t disgrace!

Sin is always right there with me

But willingly You had set me free!

The battle has been won

But the victory is far from over.

Just let me walk in You

So evil I may not pursue.

Now I see Your glory!

And forever I glorify You!

The cross is essential to defeating sin and walking the Christian life. Jesus Christ's blood is suffiencient in redeeming you. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.
