Depression is part of human existence no matter how spiritual you may be.

When Shall the Darkness Flee

When shall the darkness flee?

When death and sin torment me.

When shall I hope for peace?

When life’s song has surely ceased.

 

Your Spirit dwells in my heart,

My sin still hasn’t part.

Shall I feel hope . . . or despair

When despair seems everywhere?

 

You tell me to look above.

The unseen is my Father of love.

He tells me, “Don’t live by what you see

When all that’s here is temporary.”

 

I live in pain; my body full of scars.

These jolting pains will always miss the mark:

That I live by not what I see nor feels.

Eventually this broken life will be healed.
