I Said The Wrong ThingA Poem by Miranda RichardThis is about accidentally hurting people's feelings.
I said the wrong thing, I didn't stop talking
I feel as though I'm a dead man walking I saw her tears, and heard her sobs And as I watch her, my heart throbs I hurt her feelings, made her cry It's times like these when I want to die My friend is hurt, and it's me who's to blame I can't even manage to say her name I never said sorry, and watched her go She'll never forgive me, this I know Why didn't I apologize, why was I cruel? She's the victim here, and I'm the fool She doesn't talk, and glares at me I didn't even realize I was talking "I'm sorry," I said, and hung my head I was filled with relief, and no longer felt dread She widened her smile, and took my hand "It's okay," she grinned, "I understand." © 2013 Miranda RichardAuthor's Note
