The American man entered the bamboo house. His wife was lying on the narrow bed. Her stomach looked like a small hill like the day they discussed the same subject as now. The only difference from that day to now was she had described the hills at white elephants. But her local color of her skin made it more light brown. She was now pregnant he knew that. She was sleeping too. He shook her arm lightly and he eyes popped open. The woman was about to scream but the man put his large hand against her mouth. At first she tried to resist with her arms trying to push him away but in the minute she saw him she relaxed.

"How are you?" The man asked. She didn't talk. She was just looking at him with her big blue eyes. Her brown hair was lying under her like a brown blanket. He knew that there was something wrong but he couldn't put a finger on it. The man just looked at the girl with all her beauty and he knew what was coming next. A tear was falling down her on cheek and he knew it was the time to say goodbye. It was like the time stopped. Like god was trying to give them a brief second to embrace and enjoy their love for even a minute in spite of their situation. He looked at her when she closed her eyes and he knew it was over.

The door handle felt hard and cold on his bare hand when he closed his source of so many years behind him. The door made a bump sound behind him and he gasped for air. He fell down on his knees and yelled into the sky. Why god why.
