So What Now?

So What Now?

A Poem by Bejn Jonathon Edwards
"

First poem of the 'No Love Lost' collection.

"

So what now?
You’ve cast me aside
because I wasn’t good enough
I wasn’t attractive enough
or so you said

So what now?
You tore into me again
because I tried to move on
you wanted me to feel pathetic
you’ve poisoned my heart

Heather
I wanted to love you
but you wouldn’t let me
Tell me what I should do
to make this right
What should I do?
What should I do?
What should I do?

So what now?
You’ve found another
to bear your burdens
Perfection is angelic to us
you wished it was tangible

So what now?
I feel your envious eyes
burning through my solace
I’m sorry, it’s my fault
I should have been perfect for you

Heather
I wanted to love you
but you wouldn’t let me
Tell me what I should do
to make this right
What should I do?
What should I do?
What should I do?

I don’t know how to live with you
I don’t know how to live with you
I don’t know how to live with you
I don’t know how to live with you

Author's Note

Bejn Jonathon Edwards
The following poems are from the 'No Love Lost' collection I wrote a while back. Eleven of these poems were written in one sitting while listening to the legendary Songs From The Black Hole by Weezer on a loop. For a month, they were left alone and untouched; I never saw these as suitable for publication but my friends keep urging me to publish anyways.

So here they are.

These thirteen poems make a single concept piece dealing with a love triangle, self loathing and heartache. The main theme is the fallibility of the individual and that we make the wrong choices even if we know the outcome.

These were posted on another website last year though I feel they deserve publication once again.

I like this. I like the idea of making a long story out of a bunch of poems. This was a nice poem. So full of love and longing.

A truly thoughtful and yearning poem. I can feel the desperation in the words and the loss of hope because of a mistake that you cannot fix. The despair and flow of words matched perfectly. Amazing write.

I find anything truly from the depth of the heart beautiful. This is painfully beautiful.

What would completely make this a great instead of really good piece would be to change the last line to:

I don’t know how to live without you.

Other than this, it is a visceral portrayal of expectation, promise and broken desire.

Good write
