In The Grand Scheme

In The Grand Scheme

A Poem by Jonathan Holleb

            In the Grand Scheme

The evening falls like clumsy souls,

            Onto a field of snow

            Releasing what the future holds,

            As something we can know

            Silence slips across the streams,

            And travels through the rain,

            With wandering eyes

            The sun disguises

            Itself as a flame

            The morning breaks like

            Flimsy crayons,

            Snapping in a child’s hands

            Out across the wild expanse,

            Of trails left uncharted,

            And we are lost

            Inside the cycle

            Unaware of where

            We started
