Uncertainty and Dusk

Uncertainty and Dusk

With the night on my back I walked through the dust

Past all of the wonders and sights ahead

I was unknowing of whom to trust

In conversations left to be discussed

With these words of wisdom my mind was fed

With the night on my back I walked through the dust

Through the corridors of memories and hallways of rust

I traveled down ancient streets where life had been left dead

I was unknowing of whom to trust

Long I stood against the wind, reminded of its gust

My life within the balance, it was hanging by a thread

With the night on my back I walked through the dust

Because to live in the now is nothing less than a must

I chose to go forward, could have turned around instead

I was unknowing of whom to trust

These days find ways but can’t always adjust

To remarks of tomorrows and words unsaid

With the night on your back walk through the dust

Although unknowing of whom to trust

a nice work bit rough in flow when read aloud, but you manage both deep emotion and a nice voice throughout. well done.

"Uncertainty and dusk" is a first attempt villanelle and shows the promise of a young writer. Rhythmically it succeeds through the first few stanzas, although some of the syntax is a bit awkward at times. Still this writer's use of imagery is superb and shows the writer's ability to blossom within any format.
