An Ode to YouA Poem by JonasA poem I wrote to my sweetheart of eight months, nearly a month before I had the guts to tell her she meant something to me.The boundless bounty of beauty, I see Planted in irises green as the wood, Or rose red lips, my heart’s skeleton key (Though be it a trifle in loverhood), Yonder in you, though as trees flitter by And shadows engulf such decoration, Fondness, a challenge great to quantify Persists, no cause for its expiration; It is the comfort, cajoling, in truth, Issuing from your amity soothing; The recline I can take, sans any sleuth, Whence my devotion has burgeoned, blooming. If its mighty sprout you ever returned, All my pursuits should be henceforth adjourned. © 2019 Jonas |
