Growing pains

Don't fall in love with the moment she's not here to stay.

Appreciate her now but outgrow her in some way.

No reservations, nothing post dated no ambitions or goals.

No cute calendars or snooze buttons the now is all she knows.

So show progress, evolve, grow and play.

But don't fall in love with the moment. She's not her to stay.

Author's Note

What inspired this 3 year old poem was watching my boy play with one of my neighbors little girl's outside in the yard. They became very close while living there. My boy wasn't aware that his best bud was scheduled to move away. I wanted to pull the boy aside and tell him not to become too attached with neighboring child because I knew that she'd being moving in a few weeks, but instead I let it play out and let them have their fun. Turns out he took the news of his best bud leaving better than I thought he would lol

I struggled with the flow and structure with this poem. The "No cute calendars" line I never grew to love but couldn't muster a decent replacement. I do how ever love the length and rhythm of this piece as it doesn't drag. (Like my commentary here lol)
