If Truth Were A Man

If Truth Were A Man

A Poem by Jon Buckley

If truth were a man,

He'd be no more of a man than me.

He wouldn't be perfect,

He wouldn't be free.

He wouldn't bow down,

To the sinners or the thieves.

Yet he wouldn't sympathise,

With the people on their knees.

If truth were a man,

He'd be no more of a man than I.

If truth is all he has,

His life would surely be a lie.

He'd be broken and corrupt,

By the weight of it all.

Because truth may be a man,

But he is human after all.

Great piece which is easy with it's flow and has many good messages but is rounded off well by a final thought. Thank you
